Review Process

JBCD has a uniform and structured, double-blind peer-review process during which all manuscripts go through specific steps before acceptance for publication. The review process includes the following stages:

  1. Initial Editorial Review: Upon receiving a manuscript, it undergoes an initial editorial review to assess whether it adheres to JBCD's author guidelines and format and if it is suitable for review. If the manuscript meets these criteria, the corresponding author is informed within two weeks about its acceptance for further processing. If not, the author is asked to revise and resubmit the manuscript according to JBCD guidelines and format.
  2. Assignment of Reference and Tracking Numbers: Once accepted for processing, the manuscript is assigned a unique reference number for future correspondence. Additionally, a tracking number is provided to the corresponding author for e-tracking through the JBCD website, allowing them to monitor the progress of the review process.
  3. Plagiarism Check: The manuscript is then sent to the Plagiarism Committee to determine the Similarity Index (SI). The Technical Editor submits a report within two weeks regarding the SI. If the similarity index is ≤10%, the manuscript may proceed, but if any single source has an SI ≥5% without proper citation, the manuscript is sent back to the author for revision to lower the SI to acceptable limits.
  4. Peer Review: The manuscript is then reviewed by two reviewers (one internal and one external) from the relevant specialty. The reviewers are expected to meticulously evaluate the manuscript, focusing on all technical details. They submit their review reports within four weeks.
  5. Author Revisions: After receiving the reviewers' comments, the corresponding author is immediately informed and asked to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' suggestions or provide justifications for any disagreements within one week.
  6. Editorial Committee Evaluation: The revised manuscript is evaluated by the Editorial Committee to ensure that the necessary amendments advised by the reviewers have been properly incorporated. This process takes two weeks to complete. If further revisions are needed, the manuscript is sent back to the author.
  7. Final Acceptance: If the Editorial Board determines that no further amendments or reviews are necessary, the corresponding author is notified of the manuscript's acceptance for publication. The final print version of the accepted manuscript is then sent to the author for final proofreading.
  8. Shortlisting for Publication: After receiving the final print version from the author, the manuscript is shortlisted for forthcoming issues and placed on a priority list, as decided by the Editorial Board. The author is informed about the volume and issue number in which the manuscript will be published.
  9. Online Publication: The accepted print version of the manuscript is also uploaded to the JBCD website in the "Ahead of Publication" section.

The minimum process duration for a manuscript is approximately four months, though this may vary depending on the response times from reviewers and authors.

Note: The final decision to accept or reject the paper rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.
